2014 Business Goal

In 2009, the National Pork Board developed a challenging 5-year business goal designed to significantly increase retail pork sales while educating consumers to help maximize their enjoyment of pork.

The goal’s tactics focus on changing consumer behavior and positively impacting their attitudes about pork.

We’ll work with you to achieve the following by the end of 2014:
  • 10% increase in real per capita domestic consumer expenditures for pork compared to 2009.
  • 10% increase in annual eatings per capita of fresh pork as measured by the NPD Group’s National Eating Trends data compared to 2009.
  • Increase consumer awareness of how to cook pork in a way that consistently leads to a tender, juicy and flavorful eating experience, as measured by a 10% improvement in a national market survey between 2009 and 2014.
